The evidence is improbably preserved by these two discs. Best seek out the discs.

The Golden Age of Light Music The Pianist in the Spotlight rec. 1934-59 GUILD GLCD 5173 [77:24] [JW]

A mixed bag but with quite a few pluses, and even the minuses are amusing, bizarre or both.

The Golden Age of Light Music The Lost TranscriptionsVol. 1 rec. 1942–55 GUILD GLCD 5174 [77:39] [JW]

I enjoyed this disc. Performances pretty rare, collated with acumen, and thoughtfulness. Great sound as well.

Igor Gorin in Opera and Song - Victor Recordings rec. 1938-42 NIMBUS PRIMA VOCE NI7937 [74:07] [RMo]

An unusual voice: flexible, very characterful, an admirable range of colours from light suavity to rich smokiness.

The Great Waltzes The Essential Collection NAXOS 8.578041-42 [70:47 + 76:50] [BR]

A well-programmed and decently played selection of, truly, the great waltzes.

The Hungarian Double-Bass Leon Bosch (double-bass) Sung-Suk Kang (piano) MERIDIAN CDE 84597 [66:55] [JW]

A really splendid and winningly performed recital. Bosch now has a select but alpha level discography to his name.

Lotte Lehmann in Opera - Vol. 1 rec. 1916-21 NIMBUS PRIMA VOCE NI7873 [75:76] [RMo]

That voice! Beautifully smooth and integrated, the security of vocalisation is a marvel.
