Leonardo BALADA Caprichos 2-4 Pittsburgh Sinf/Andrés Cárdenes, Lawrence Loh rec. 2008/9 NAXOS [BR] Sterner than advertised, but really good music, especially No 3.

Mili BALAKIREV Complete works for solo piano Alexander Paley (piano) rec. 1992 BRILLIANT CLASSICS [PK] Paley has this music in his soul.

Niels Wilhelm GADE Complete Piano Trios Trio Parnassus, Thomas Selditz (viola) rec. 2009/10 MDG [GD] This music sits somewhere between the Classical and the Romantic.

Georg Philipp TELEMANN TELEMANNia REBaroque/Maria Lindal rec. 2010 PROPRIUS [JV] A compelling disc with some lesser-known pieces by Telemann. You won't be bored, that's for sure.

Giovanni Battista VIOTTI Quatuors Concertants 1-3 I Solisti di Perugia rec. 2008 CAMERATA [Byz] No great abundance of enthusiasm or excitement, nor are there any great lapses of discrimination either.

Nigel WADDINGTON Bigger Pictures rec. 2003-9 CALA RECORDS [NB] There are a lot of similar albums out there that are more inspired.

Happy Frog & Hot Canary The Aspidistra Drawing Room O rec. 2010 ASPIDISTRA [JS] I thoroughly enjoyed the music and performances on this disc.

Primakov In Concert - Vol.1 Franz SCHUBERT “Wanderer” Fantasie Pyotr TCHAIKOVSKY Album pour enfants Sergei RACHMANINOV Sonata 2 Vassily Primakov (piano) rec. 2002-7 BRIDGE [OL] Primakov is excellent in the Romantic repertoire.
