Jascha Spivakovsky (piano) Bach to Bloch Vol. IX rec. 1953-61 PRISTINE AUDIO PAKM081 [78:09] [RCh] More impressive live performances from this fine Russian.

Swing A Benny Goodman Story - Pierre Genisson (clarinet) BBC Concert O/Keith Lockhart rec. 2018 APARTÉ AP218 [54:50] [MC] Genisson is on unerringly fine form.

Women of Music Songs by Wieniawski, Schumann, Chaminade & Backer-Grřndahl - Urszula Kryger (mezzo) Agata Górska-Kołodziejska (piano) rec. 2017 DUX 1524 [39:28] [CSe] This interesting disc shines a valuable, but all too brief, light onto the neglected work of two impressive female composers of Romantic art song.

Other Reviews

Piano Lessons: Reflections from a Life in Music by Vladimir Feltsman publ. 2019 BookLocker.com [RMo] Informative and engaging.

Helge Rosvaenge (tenor) Danish Popular Songs rec. 1929-32 DANACORD DACOCD855 [71:12] [GF] Readers more nostalgically-minded than me should grab the opportunity to wallow in memories.

Hugh Blair: Worcester’s Forgotten Organist by Kevin Allen publ. 2019 Self-published [JQ] A carefully researched and fairly argued appraisal of an English musician who has been unjustly forgotten.

Beethoven: The Man Revealed by John Suchet publ. 2020 Elliott and Thompson [RMo] A thoroughly readable, digestible and entertaining biography.
