From David F
Golightly, composer -
I, like countless others,
owe Adrian a massive debt of gratitude
- gratitude for his patient, friendly
and helpful manner when sometimes the
playing in the Slaithwaite Orchestra
was not at its best; gratitude for the
courage to tackle extremely adventurous
music that challenged both orchestra
and audience; gratitude for the example
of dignity and generosity shown over
countless years; gratitude for never
being afraid to try and, in the trying,
never to fail; gratitude for the vision
to succeed and with the success always
to be humble and grateful for the opportunity.
Adrian was a good musician,
but more importantly he was a fine man
whose vision and courage touched and
enriched many lives. In a world full
of avarice and greed, his example was
one of great consideration and value
for those qualities that elevate the
lives of all. There can be no greater
tribute to a man or his life's honour
than that.
