Commentary
There Are Times is a pleasant, laid back collection of standards in the jazz mainstream style. It doesn't offer much that's terribly new, but it accomplishes what it sets out to do beautifully. Hutcherson plays on five of the nine tracks. He solos most extensively on their gentle version of Duke's "Prelude to a Kiss." I should also mention George Cables' playing. His work on "Stella by Starlight" and "Con Alma" is particularly lovely and compelling.
