Pianist and vocalist Sergio Mendes has been a successful producer and performer in the record market for four decades. He has achieved this by mixing the exciting rhythms of his native Brazil with current trends in pop music.This time the Latin rhythms are mixed with elements of hip-hop. Make no mistake: this is dancing music and I have no doubt that this will be a hit in discotheques world wide.
Mendes is a very skilful vocalist, pianist and record producer and many of the tracks here are remakes of what he has done before. In each case, however, the arrangements are new and the style changed sufficiently to give the tune new life. The jazz content is not high, but the standard of musicianship is first class and all of the arrangements very musical. The vocals are neat and well performed, but first and foremost this is wonderful dance music.
