Mishka Adams majored at the University of Philippines, on Saxophone, but she does not play it on this record. She has however performed all the vocal parts, both of the foreground and background variety.

Her backing group, the John Hoare Quartet, performs well throughout; every one of these musicians is a top class performer. The question is, is this a jazz performance? I suspect that for the most part it is not and that this record is targeted at a wider audience. There is some nice jazz from cornet player John Hoare, his horn sounds like a trumpet, but he certainly plays some nice stuff.

Mishka has a good voice, excellent diction and she sings in tune, three of the most important qualities of a top class vocalist. As all the music is unfamiliar, I find it hard to compare her performance with that of other singers, I understand she has recorded an album of standards and I would very much like to hear it. She has a certain quality and I am sure we will hear more of her, if she is not swallowed up by the ‘pop’ world.

The tunes are good, but I doubt whether they will become ‘standards’
