David
Sancious is an internationally acknowledged
pianist, guitarist and composer who can
adapt to virtually any type of music albeit
classical, rock, jazz, funk or R&B.
With such virtuosity he has gained serious
recognition from the likes of Bruce Springsteen,
Sting, Bryan Ferry and Santana – and many
others. British fans may well recall Barbara
Thompson’s popular heavy rock album ‘Shadow
Show’ recorded in 1983 and featuring David
Sancious on synthesizer.
Sancious
has been known worldwide for some thirty
years – he was Springsteen’s keyboard
player with the E Street Band. ‘Transformation’
couples him with Tone comprising Gerald
Carboy - bass guitar and wind chimes,
Ernest Carter – drums, percussion and
vocals on ‘Piktor’s Metamorphosis.’ Gayle
Moran joins the vocal chorus on the fourth
track. Moran is married to the celebrated
jazz musician and composer Chick Corea.
This
album, according to some a long overdue
reissue, is a return to the jazz-fusion
of the 1970s and was recorded after Sancious’
days with the E Street Band. It represents
an important milestone in his career and
should be well received.
