This CD is a re-release of a an LP from 1962, that was only released one time and has accumulated quite a lot in value, because it is difficult to find. Thankfully, it is now restored to us in CD format. The Marty Paish scores are instantly recognisable and sound as good as ever, what a shame a record wasn't kept of the musicians and singers who were involved in the backings, I feel sure there were a lot of well known names here.

Norman Granz managed Ella at this time and it was he who chose the songs; they all came from current Broadway shows. Mostly they were new to Ella in terms of performance, although she would almost certainly have heard them before. The album goes to confirm what I have always suspected and Bing Crosby said, "Man, woman and child, Ella Fitzgerald is the greatest."

If like me you can't get enough of Ella and you missed this one on vinyl, heres a chance to add a fine album to your collection, even if it is 39 years later! If you're an aspiring vocalist, it's essential listening and if you are not familiar with the arranging talents of Marty Paish, there's another bonus.
