Quincy Jones is synonymous with quality, he is one of the finest writers of Big Band charts ever and he has an innate feel for using the right musicians on each recording and giving them the room to express themselves.

This is another re-issue, it was released as an LP in 1970; it was certainly a pleasant surprise for me because I missed it first time round. The soloists include Freddie Hubbard on Trumpet, Jimmy Cleveland and Kai Winding on Trombone Roland Kirk on Saxes and Toots Thielman on both Harmonica and Guitar. As if this wasn't enough the legendary Ray brown is on Electric Bass.

My favourite track is Killer Joe a great orchestration and superb Trumpet playing from Freddie Hubbard.

This album was given Four and Half stars by the DownBeat reviewers in 1970, I give it Five Stars in 2000!
