A combination of original music and traditional Hindi songs along with a liberal
dose of modern Indian pop and Bollywood show tunes!
Described by the director as a ‘Punjabi film’, its score is not only a reflection
on the hopes, dreams and sorrows of its various characters but more specifically
a celebration of their culture. Danna’s music fits quite nicely with the generous
array of songs and there is enough variation in the material to keep it all
relatively absorbing. Of the composer’s original work the lively ‘Baraat’ and
the piano based ‘Hold Me, I’m Falling’ make the most impression, but it does
occasionally all become rather repetitious.
While this will certainly not be to everyone’s taste, I’m sure that it will
have its fair share of enthusiastic fans. An exotic, distinctive musical journey
that may attract those with an adventurous spirit.
