An attractive collection of modern film music with the added novelty of sound
effects to supplement certain selections, courtesy of SFX designer Michael
Bishop.
Among the highlights here are 'Dedication and Windsong' from Mighty Joe
Young, with its engaging choral work (performed by Winton Woods High
School Chorus), the truly moving, beautiful melody of 'When you Believe'
from The Prince of Egypt, a particularly strong rendition of the
'Main Title' from Godzilla and a nice arrangement (by Joe Price)
of the 'Main Title' from Shakespeare in Love.
In fact, overall there is not too much to complain about as this is a rather
enjoyable, fun collection with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra giving a good
account of themselves under the accomplished direction of Erich Kunzel. And
although I'm sceptical about the value of the SFX tracks, they are certainly
well mounted and may provide some amusement for those in the right mood.
