James L. Zychowicz James L. Zychowicz is a musicologist whose
specialization is nineteenth-century music,
especially the works of Gustav Mahler. He holds
a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of
Cincinnati, and during his studies was awarded
a Fulbright Grant for research in Vienna. His
publications include the monograph Mahler's
Fourth Symphony, in the series of Studies in
Musical Genesis and Structure published by the
Oxford University Press, as well as articles
and reviews in the Journal of the American Musicological
Society, Music Library Association Notes, the
Journal of Musicology and other scholarly periodicals.
His recent publications include the article
on the songs of Mahler and Strauss in The Cambridge
Companion to the Lied, edited by James Parsons,
and an essay on Mahler's manuscripts is forthcoming
in Perspectives on Gustav Mahler, edited by
Jeremy Barham. As an active musicologist, Zychowicz
gives papers regularly at various professional
meetings. He also reviews for Seen and Heard
and Opera Today. |
