BETTINA MARA
Bettina
Mara is an amateur musician or at any rate thats
what she is on her better days - as well as an avid concert and
opera-goer. After recognizing early on that becoming a pianist
was not in the cards for her, she trained as a simultaneous interpreter
- the profession she makes her living in today, alongside translating
and teaching. Of German-American origin, she has lived nearly
half her life in Athens, Greece, where her family now includes
three daughters, several cats, two pianos and various other musical
instruments. Besides covering music events in Southeastern Europe
for Seen and Heard, she also writes reviews for the Berlin bi-monthly
Orpheus Oper International and other publications.
