	Organ fanciers will enjoy this stylishly, thoughtfully played, well recorded
	and presented CD. John Stanley has been well served previously, most of these
	composers less so. Handel's influence remained strong until after 1800; the
	Arne and Philip Hayes concertos and the voluntaries by Henry Heron and, in
	a less airy style, John Keeble are most Handelian. Galant idioms appear in
	William Russell's two voluntaries and Samuel Webbe, jnr's single movement
	Voluntary. Samuel Wesley, a pioneer in English appreciation of Bach, and
	James Hook seem to follow Bach's example in their excellent voluntaries;
	Thomas Adams, interested in exploring "orchestral" colours on the organ,
	entertains with variations on Adeste Fideles and a three movement "Organ
	Piece".
