This two CD set of the Bach six keyboard partitas was recorded at Tampere
Hall, Finland in August 1992, Risto Lauriala playing a Steinway grand piano.
The notes are just a straight-forward introduction to the music, the CDs,
unusually today packaged in a proper double case. The music-making is highly
accomplished and attractively captures Bach's great humanity and feeling
in this music which represents some of the composer's lighter side. The discs
are a sheer delight to listen to, proving that early music authenticity isn't
always essential for a first rate release.
