PENDERECKI, Krzysztof
b Debica, near Cracow, 23 November 1933
He first studied privately, then from 1955 to 1958 was a pupil at the Cracow Conservatory, where he later taught and was appointed rector in 1972. He has appeared widely as a lecturer and has received many commissions in Europe and the USA, and many awards, including an honorary doctorate from the University of Rochester, New York. He is also an honorary member of the Royal Academy of Music in London.
