MOORE, Douglas Stuart

d Greenport, New York, 25 July 1969, aged seventy-five
He was educated at Yale, then served in the Navy. In 1919 he went to Paris studying with d'Indy and Boulanger. In 1921 he accepted a position with the Cleveland Museum, and in 1926 was appointed to teach at Columbia University, remaining there until his retirement in 1962. He was president of the National Institute and the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He received many honorary degrees.
