MAW, Nicholas
b Grantham, Lincolnshire, 5 November 1935
He studied harmony, counterpoint and composition at the Royal Academy of Music and won a French government scholarship to study with Boulanger for a year in Paris. He also won the 1959 Lili Boulanger Prize. He has lectured for the Workers' Educational Association and for the universities of London and Oxford. From 1966 to 1970 he was composer-in-residence at Trinity College, Cambridge. He has written much music for films and radio, and has had many commissions.
