LEIGHTON, Kenneth

He studied classics and composition at Queen's College, Oxford, and in 1951 won the Mendelssohn Scholarship which took him to Rome. In 1968 he was appointed lecturer and fellow of Worcester College, Oxford, and in 1970 the Reid professor of music at Edinburgh University.
