LAMBERT, Constant

He was the son of an Australian painter. He was educated at Christ's College from 1915 to 1922, then won a scholarship to the Royal College of Music. From 1931 to 1947 he was musical director of Sadler's Wells Ballet (later called the Royal Ballet), and in 1948 became its artistic director.
