JACOB, Gordon
b London, 5 July 1895
d Saffron Walden, 8 June 1984, aged eighty-eight
He was educated at Dulwich College, then the Royal College of Music, studying under Stanford and Howells immediately after World War I. After teaching theory and composition at Birkbeck and Morley colleges he joined the staff of the Royal College in 1926 and continued there until he retired in 1966. He was made a CBE in 1968.
