HEROLD, Louis Joseph Ferdinand

He studied piano with Louis Adam, his godfather, and entered the Paris Conservatory in
1806. In 1812 he won the Grand Prix de Rome, then went to Naples as pianist to Queen Caroline. From 1820 to
1827 he was accompanist at the Theatre des Italiens. In 1827, he became choirmaster at the Academie de Musique (Opera). Consumption, from which he had suffered for a long time, killed him.
