FOSS, Lukas
b Berlin, 15 August 1922
He learned piano and flute in Paris, then went to the USA in 1937 to study at the Curtis Institute. He was made a US citizen in 1942. He spent several summers at Tanglewood and took special courses at Yale. He has received many awards, and has had many professorial appointments and conductorships.
