DUKAS, Paul

d Paris, 17 May 1935, aged sixty-nine
He studied at the Paris Conservatory from 1882 to 1889, and won second prize in the Prix de Rome. He became music inspector of the Administration des Beaux-Arts and an officer of the Legion d'honneur. He contributed many articles to musical papers. From 1909 until his death he taught composition at the Paris Conservatory. A large number of his compositions were unpublished, and all of these he destroyed shortly before his death.
