Judith Bailey: Aquamarine Waltz Op. 65
For violoncello and piano
Composer's note:
This worked was commissioned by Isabel Young in May 1999 and written in June of that year. She had commissioned a piece for 'cello and piano for her 75th birthday. My first thoughts were to relate the title to my Cornish home but did not feel The Haven to be an appropriate name for a piece! However, because of its happy associations and spectacular sea view, the word aquamarine seemed an apt description of what turned into a light-hearted waltz.
