The Czardas Duo [50 mins] (PGW)
Abigail Frymann brought to S&H's attention The Czardas Duo and here is their CD featuring many of the same concert items, nicely recorded, an original enterprise deservedly sponsored by Accordion World. The Duo tours widely and do workshops for children. Their repertoire includes major works by contemporary composers, including those by Sofia Gubadulina.
Pärt's ubiquitous Fratres must be one of the most-arranged (dare I say over-played?) of the last century's pieces, and it sounds as good on cello and bayan as any of the numerous other versions. Brochure & CD available from ianwatson99@lineone.net; recommended.
