In laws

This is music for what appears to be a remake of an unremarkable 1979 film of the same name that starred Peter Falk and Alan Arkin (now Michael Douglas and Albert Brooks) as two delinquent fathers whose cavortings threaten the wedding of their offspring.

We include it here because of the source music artists involved. There is music here to suit all generations. For the grey hairs there is Elvis Presley's 'It's Now Or Never', Ella Fitzgerald hotting-up 'Sunshine of your Love', Mel Tormé's elegance in 'Too Close for Comfort', B.J. Thomas reminding us of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid with 'Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head', Claudine Longet recalling another old film favourite, 'A Man and a Woman', Michel Legrand swinging with 'Di-Gue-Ding-Ding' and the exotic colatura singing of Yma Sumac in 'Gopher Mambo.'

Paul McCartney appears in three tracks: the well-known James Bond theme Live and Let Die, the dreamily romantic 'I'm Carrying'; and the lesser known (to this reviewer anyway) 'A Love For You'. The Bee Gees contribute 'Wedding Day' and K.C. and the Sunshine Band's 'Get Down Tonight' and Chic's 'Good Times' would enliven any party. Finally probably of more appeal to the youngsters are: Badfinger performing 'No Matter What', the Electric Light Orchestra bashing out 'Don't bring Me Down.'

As more popular source music goes, this is appealing.
