If the composer's name immediately says The Addams Family to you,
but little else, then this collection is essential. There are 27 other projects
represented from both film and TV, and what's very apparent is how gifted
the man is for melody. Highlights include The Ghost and Mr. Chicken
which has a suite and bonus track on "Haunted Organ", and The Shakiest
Gun In the West. In many ways the TV theme format suited his jazzy
sensibilities perfectly, but even with a couple of extended suites here,
you'll be left wishing for more. It's amazing to think someone so colourful
and humorous in style has been almost completely unavailable on disc. Seek
out at once.
