LUTYENS, Elisabeth

d London, 14 April 1983, aged seventy-six
She was the daughter of architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. She studied at the Ecole Normale in Paris in 1922, then went to the Royal College of Music. After World War II she survived by writing for films and radio while bringing up four children. She formed the Composers' Concourse in the 1950s and her own publishing company, Olivan Press, in the mid-1960s. In 1969 she was awarded the CBE.
