JOHNSON, Robert

He was the son of John Johnson, a composer. He was indentured from 1596 to 1603 as servant to the Lord Chamberlain, who had him taught music. In 1604 he was appointed lutenist to James I and later to Charles I, holding the post until he died. He wrote a few sacred and many secular vocal works, some dances and masques, and works for lute and other instruments.
JONES, Daniel Jenkyn

He began composing when still a child. He read English at Swansea University, and studied conducting, composition, viola and horn at the Royal Academy of Music from 1935 to 1938. A friend of Dylan Thomas, he wrote the music for a radio version of Under Milk Wood in 1954. He has gained many commissions and awards.
