HARRIS, Roy
b Lincoln County, Oklahoma, 12 February 1898
d Santa Monica, California, 1 October 1979, aged eight-one
In 1919 he entered the University of California at Berkeley, and in 1926 went to Paris to study with Boulanger. He won the Guggenheim Fellowship in 1927/8 the Creative Fellowship from Pasadena Music and Arts Association, and was awarded honorary musical doctorates from Rutgers and the University of Rochester. He held many teaching posts.
