| Shakespeare had to leave school prematurely at 15 to earn money because of the collapse of his father’s business and at aged 18 married Anne Hathaway in 1582. She had come from a prosperous family and was brought up in a large 12 room farm house now euphemistically known as Anne Hathaway’s Cottage. |
