| Martin Luther in 1520 organized a burning of all Catholic books together
with the Papal Bull excommunicating him. A year later, Emperor Charles V
ordered all writings by Luther and his followers be burned. In 1526 the
Bishop of London, Cuthbert Tunstall, ordered the burning of Tyndale’s
English translation of the Bible.
