In the 1497 Bonfire of the Vanities the Italian Priest, Girolamo Savonarola publicly burned “immoral” books which included Boccaccio’s Decameron and all works by Ovid he could find. The Decameron contains 100 tales told by a group of seven young women and three young men sheltering in a secluded villa just outside Florence to escape the Black Death in 1348. Apparently it is a bit saucy at times
